Château Carbonnieux is one of Bordeaux’s oldest estates, a place where history and harmony coexist among the gravelly soils of Pessac-Léognan. Founded by Benedictine monks in the 13th century and revived in the 20th by the Perrin family, the estate has always balanced spiritual calm with agricultural precision. Today, Carbonnieux is known not only for its deep roots, but also for its rare dual mastery: it is one of the few classified growths to produce both red and white wines of equal renown.

Located just south of Bordeaux, the estate stretches over 170 hectares, with 95 under vine. The terroir is varied — gravel, clay, and limestone — offering nuance and natural drainage, ideal for both Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc. The vineyard is farmed sustainably, with increasing attention to biodiversity, cover crops, and soil health. Vinification is tailored to variety and plot: reds are handled gently to preserve finesse, while whites see careful skin contact and fermentation in both tank and oak, depending on the cuvée. The approach is one of measured clarity — letting the vintage speak, but with a guiding hand.

Carbonnieux’s white wines are luminous and precise, among the finest dry whites in Bordeaux. Sauvignon Blanc brings citrus, lemongrass, and flint; Sémillon adds texture, beeswax, and quiet weight.
