The 2024 Bourgneuf continues this estate's upward trajectory, standing out for its usual depth and concentration in this vintage. Aromas of cherries, raspberries and minty cassis preface a medium to full-bodied, velvety and layered palate that's rich and creamy, with broad structural shoulders and a lively, penetrating finish. Once again, the quality of Bourgneuf's 2024 underlines this estate's proximity to Trotanoy (one block actually reaches the outbuildings of Trotanoy).
The 2024 Bourgneuf, aged one-third in new barrels, has a composed and harmonious bouquet with blackcurrant, briar and light truffle scents unfolding in the glass. This is well defined and the oak is well integrated. The palate is medium-bodied, fresh and vibrant, with crisp black fruit, fine tannins and a minerally finish. What a delicious Pomerol from this estate that has a useful habit of over-performing!
The 2024 Bourgneuf is terrific. More than anything, it impresses with its balance. Clean saline notes run through a core of inky dark fruit, cedar, new leather, incense, licorice, lavender and dried herbs. Medium in body and poised, with tons of class, Bourgneuf is especially fine in 2024. I loved it. Tasted three times.
