The 2025 Carbonnieux Blanc has a light, delicate nose, with pretty apple blossom and Anjou pear scents. Like recent vintages, it just needs more oomph (technical term, but you know what I mean). The palate has matchstick reduction on the entry, and this suppresses the finish and detracts from the brightness and charm. This was less evident on a second bottle. Hopefully this will be addressed by the time of bottling, but I remain prudent for now. Drink 2029 - 2040.

This shows semillon character with aromas of dried apples, pears, spices, dried lemon peel and lemon curd. Its full-bodied, layered and rich, with flavors of fruit and grape skin. Fascinating waxy finish. One of the earliest harvests ever, starting on August 19. A blend of 55% sauvignon blanc and 45% semillon.

90-92/100 Antonio Galloni

The 2025 Carbonnieux Blanc is a brilliant, tense wine with good depth and plenty of drive. Green pear, lemon peel, tomato leaf, sage, mint and white pepper are very nicely fashioned in this tasty dry white. Drink 2027 - 2035.
